The World We Live in Can be Very Stressful

In the beginning, when we wandered the earth in search of food, the
stressors were lions and tigers.  When one would chase us, we would
run very fast to our cave and should we make it, we would REST
and RECUPERATE.*  Research shows that massage of this type promotes
rapid removal of metabolic wastes and is three to four times as
effective as rest in recovery from muscle fatigue.

Today, the stressors seem to be constant.  Schedules, traffic, financial worries,
bombardment with information (cell phones, fax machines, instant
messaging, etc.).  This chronic stress is linked to disease.  When stressed
our immune system is suppressed, which increases the risk of illness.

There does seem to be link between chronic stress and disease. **

Where in the world are we asked to do less,
take life slower, rest more, relax?

After years of laying my hands on people, I truly believe that we
have "forgotten" how to relax.  Relaxation is a skill that can be learned.
Through massage, you experience the feeling of deep relaxation making
it easier to recreate that state in your daily life.
